Day Trip up Highway 1

A couple weekends ago Greg and I decided to go for a Sunday drive.  Greg really wanted to drive across the Golden Gate Bridge and up Highway 1.  We also wanted to stop and see the redwoods that grown just north of San Francisco but we passed by them without realizing it until we were way past them.
Anyway, we drove through San Francisco, crossed the bridge and then parked on the North side of the bridge so we could take some pictures and walk on the bridge for a little bit.
It was a beautiful sunny and it was a beautiful view to the see the city from the other side of the bay.  It was also fun to walk on the bridge. I found it really interesting that there are crisis hot line phones placed on the bridge for those who are thinking about jumping.  The railing isn't that high so i could that it would be easy for people to jump. Anyway.....
Once we crossed the bridge we headed towards Muir Woods park , where the redwoods are.  There were a ton of people there and no where to park so we just kept on driving.  Which is why we missed seeing the coastal redwoods.  Apparently we needed to stop and walk around to see them.
So we continued up highway 1. it was a beautiful drive along the coast and all the little towns were so cute. We stopped in one for lunch.
While we were stopped to get lunch we got a phone call from Greg's family that his grandma had passed away.  It was a sad moment for us but not an unexpected one.
This news sort of dampened our trip along with my need to get back home so I could attend a meeting for work.
So rather than driving back home through Napa we headed straight back home.

All in all it was a good day.
